The following forms are available to assist OA Staff:

 


The following web-based training is available to inform and assist OA staff:

  • OAP Legal Obligations (MS PowerPoint file, click to download MS Power Point Viewer)- This presentation discusses section 504 and the ADA as they relate to the legal obligations of Job Corps in recruiting, interviewing, and placing people with disabilities.
  • Disability Initiative Training for Admissions Counselors - This training provides information on the disability initiative, disability-related responsibilities in PRH-1, and the ACs role in the reasonable accommodation process.
  • Interviewing - This presentation offers guidelines for interviewing people with disabilities. Also, a fact sheet is available from DOL.
  • Recruitment - This presentation provides information on how and where to recruit people with disabilities for the Job Corps program.
  • Overcoming Fear of Losing Benefits - This presentation discusses the fears many applicants with disabilities have about the effect participation in the Job Corps program will have on any benefits they are receiving.

Job Corps Basic Eligibility Criteria


To enroll in Job Corps, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Be at least 16, but not yet 25 years old, on the date of arrival at a center (i.e., time of enrollment). For otherwise eligible individuals with disabilities, the maximum age limit may be waived (the minimum age is still 16).
  2. Have a signed consent form for automatic Selective Service registration (for male applicants).
  3. Be a United States citizen, a United States National, a lawfully admitted permanent resident alien, refugee, asylee or parolee, or other alien who has been authorized by the Attorney General to work in the United States.
  4. Be a low-income individual.
  5. Be an individual who is one or more of the following:
  • A school dropout
  • An individual who requires additional education, vocational training, or intensive career counseling and related assistance in order to participate successfully in regular schoolwork or to secure and hold employment
  • Basic skills deficient
  • Homeless, runaway, or a foster child
  • A parent
